There’s no such thing as Web 2.0!
(Yet…)
I get really pissed off with all this “2.0″ hype. There’s no such thing as Web 2.0, would it be a technological or functional evolution.
We’re still using the same protocols and technologies we used some years ago. OK, the increase of bandwidth has provided us the possibility to use asynchronous HTTP requests (the so-called “AJAX”), and build fancier sites, with lots of images, and dynamic content. That’s a natural evolution, which made thing easier, but hasn’t provided any new tools for a new web. In the other side, blogs are not a new concept, social networks are not a new concept, instant messaging is not a new concept and wikis are not a new concept! The only difference is: people are using them more than they did before! OK, that’s an evolution, that something new, but it’s not a new Web! It’s only the fact that the Web is playing a stronger role in our life.
